It's the coldest January in decades. Every morning I wake up wearing fuzzy Christmas socks to twenty degree temperatures and hope that my water hasn't frozen over. Then I thumb through my social media and see everyone's delicious snow and ice. Even though it's still cold here, it's still very green. If I step outside my door to take a twenty degree portrait, it still looks like spring. So, what's a girl to do? Pretend. Hard.
And nothing says, "It's cold outside" like MITTENS. This is my daughter Madison. She just turned Ten and is always up for some studio make believe. Pretending with a few props is the dream of every child. It gives that extra sparkle that helps make smiles even bigger. When I look back and reflect on my favorite portraits of the year, they are ALWAYS of smiling faces.
